{UAH} President Museveni: Town & Country Planning as a Development Process

Planning is a Process:

Town/ County Planning /Design Process involves:

1.  Mapping (generating cartographic maps)

2. Designing Road/Transportation, utilities (Physical Planning/Urban Design)

3. Investment Housing Estates, utilities , Industrial estates (Urban/Rural Development)

The government of Uganda has never done any of the above!

Estates are going up everywhere without properly designed roads, public transportation system, sewerage, drainage or utilities. The result is massive slums we are creating in this country.

 

It implies our planning is posterior with devastating consequences of dismantling the entire existing guessed infrastructure.  Urban dwellers now create roads, tey know where power lines pass! Don't mind that when spectic tanks fill up raw sewer follows into peoples homes.

It is a disaster.

The question is who picks the bills to rectify these misplanned human settlements?

 

I suggest to government to hire me and direct development strategies that will create an impact on the development of the country. It is a complex and a technical undertaking.

 

Towns must be able to optimize urban assets, systems, communities – how do you do that? And not least we must know how new cities will attract entrepreneurs, residents and investors.
