{UAH} Rwomushana: Political state tense like presser cooker
Political analyst, Charles Rwomushana, says the political situation in Uganda is very tense like a pressure cooker.
He was commenting on the possibility of opposition holding their own swearing in ceremony parallel to that of the president scheduled for May 12 at Kololo independence grounds.
According to Rwomushana, Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] announcing its intentions is always an early warning for the government which prepares.
"Expect nothing different this time. President Museveni has sworn in before but have you seen him deploy UPDF the way he is today? Something larger than FDC is the reason," Rwomushana said on Friday at NBS TV.
He said Supreme Court justices were around when the 2016 elections took place but failed to gauge whether the elections free and fair.
He says this is the reason why Ugandans lack confidence in the judicial system.
"That on its own is need for concern."
NRM taskforce deputy spokesperson, Mary Mutesi, on the other hand said Ugandans need to ask FDC to answer under what legal framework they are calling for the independent audit of 2016 elections.
"FDC should give Ugandans an example of a country in the world where a post-election independent audit has taken place."
Mutesi also wondered who will constitute this audit that FDC is bent on.
Meanwhile, the leading opposition party says unless this audit happens, it will form its own government and swear in Kizza Besigye as the new president.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
