{UAH} Few things to note on the UK referendum!

Friends,
There are a few things to note on the UK  referendum.

1. People never wanted a referendum in the first place. Cameron called it just to alleviate tensions in his party. He and the remain camp were complacent that their fare share of campaigning will ensure the country remains in the EU and Cameron's party isn't divided. He thought it as a win-win.

2. Leave camp told blatant lies and half truths, and used this as a basis of their campaign. Let's be honest, majority of people's memory and understand of the EU starts, not 40 years ago when we joined, but a few months ago when campaigning began.

Winston Churchill said the best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter. Well the leave camp had a five minute conversation with leave voters and they voted on the basis of their impulse and fears perpetuated by lies.

Many of whom btw, regret MASSIVELY voting to leave.

3. The after effects. No one foresaw the consequences of this. Leave haven't even got a manifesto. No one knows what to do. Article 50 won't be invoked until October or after two years . In the interim, there's uncertainty and uncertainty is the enemy of growth. Our leader has resigned, the opposition are in shambles, experts are predicting a shallow recession. This is a nightmare. Sometimes the people don't know best, I know its against the values of democracy, but there's a reason why politicians are paid to make important decisions.

4. Scotland. No one knew how Scotland would have voted. Yes polls suggested that 2/3 were for remain, but Sturgeon has dropped a bombshell in preparing a second referendum. It's true, circumstances have materially and substantially changed and you know what, she's right to call for a second referendum.

I would argue that circumstances have materially changed 2 hours after projections of leave were made, and so applying the same logic, a second referendum should be called.

5. The legality. It's not legally binding. The referendum has absolutely nothing to do with the EU legally. It's advisory, it's an instruction by the people to the government. Parliament must now respond and enact legislation to give it effect. Lets not forget, majority of politicians were remain.

P.s all of the above is fantasy bullshit. I'm just clutching at straws out of sheer devastation and consoling myself that it's not the end. Afterall,It's not like leaving a "useful" African Union!
