I did not sit for S4 or S6 - Janet Museveni
According to some appointments committee members First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni (Education and Sports) and former Luweero LC-V chairman Hajji Abdul Nadduli (minister without Portfolio) were approved on "humanitarian" grounds.
Although Janet holds a master's degree in Organisational Leadership and Management from the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Makerere University, the committee raised questions about her admission to Makerere.
Gulu Woman MP Betty Aol Achan led the onslaught against the first lady. She queried her academic qualifications especially her diploma in a nursery course called psychic and physiological development of the child 0-5 years.
She got this diploma from Montessori Education Centre, Dublin in Ireland, and it formed the basis for her admission to Makerere University though without O-level and A-level certificates.
"So, how did you get admitted to Makerere?" one opposition MP reportedly asked the first lady.
"I must tell the truth, I didn't have a normal secondary school education, I didn't sit for S4 and S6," Janet reportedly told the committee.
She was then asked about her teaching experience and she conceded to having none.
She, according to sources, said she had never stepped in any classroom to teach because she has mostly dealt with young people and communities. She was also asked about her huge security detail and convoy.

The MPs complained that her motorcade would drain the education ministry's budget and her expansive security detail would make her inaccessible to teachers.
She said, however, that since she is no longer an MP, she will have more time to meet and interact with teachers. She finally got the much-needed nod of approval albeit on humanitarian grounds, a source said.
