8 Facts About The Downtown Dallas Shooter, Micah Xavier Johnson

Micah Xavier Johnson has been identified as the gunman who killed 5 officers and wounded 7 last night alongside a protest rally in Downtown, Dallas. Here's what we know about him so far.

1 – Johnson was 25 years old and lived in Dallas.

2 – He had no criminal record or ties to terrorist organizations.

3 – He claimed to be acting alone.

4 – The motive for the mass shooting, according to Johnson, was anger over the shootings of black men by white police officers. He said he wanted to kill white officers.

5 – Johnson was part of the US Military reserve for 6 years and served in Afghanistan for a year.

6 – While with the military, Johnson reportedly had a particular interest in martial arts and urban combat training.

7 – According to neighbors, Johnson was changed after returning from Afghanistan. They said he was very reclusive, and that he had a large collection of firearms.

8 – Several reports claim that after his time with the military, Johnson belonged to a gun club and frequently engaged in target practice
