Security details of how Col Dan Opito Odwe the jailed Entebbe Air force base garrison commander landed into troubles leading to his arrest.

According to a highly placed security from the Entebbe air force base Col Opito fell a victim of his achievements for the time he has been in the air force and the base garrison commander.

"His arrest has been long overdue because he was under a lot of pressure and fighting with other senior army officers who were not comfortable with his work methods and different view of things," a source said.

A source noted that the troubled air force chief has had a long standing bad blood and fighting with the president Museveni's elite force the Special Forces Command (SFC) top brass bosses.

"He has not been in good books with the Special forces command because for example he constructed a state of art housing for his 8 Combat Pilots but after its completion the SFC wanted to occupy it which he vehemently refused in favor of his staff which we suspect that it worsened the situation,".

It is also indicated that Col Odwe has made a lot achievements in the air force which some officers are not comfortable with.

Col Opito also the former 4th Division infantry operations and training officer is the most senior army officer among more than 30 soldiers, including Capt Ojara, the arms officer (head of armory) at Bombo Military Barracks, who are facing charges of treason and attempting to assassinate president Museveni.

He was arrested from his home in Katabi allegedly by the SFC soldiers and according to family sources his hands were tied on his back before he was bundled into a vehicle and driven to Makindye Military Barracks in Kampala.

Opito, a former local rebel commander in Lango surrendered in 1989 and was given amnesty before being integrated into the armed forces.

After joining the army he went back to school and joined Makerere collage in senior Five and he later joined Makerere University where he graduated with bachelors in Law.
