COLOMBIA EVENT TONIGHT:

With the signing of a ceasefire on June 23, the Colombian government
and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are close to a
comprehensive peace agreement following nearly four years of peace
talks in Havana.

In doing so, they have developed a number of innovative approaches
such as a clear procedural distinction between peace negotiations and
the peace process; positioning the rights of the victims at the centre
of the talks; addressing the structural problem of rural development;
creating a gender sub-commission; and planning for implementation long
before the agreement is signed.

In a newly published report, Norwegian Peacebuilding Resource Centre
(NOREF) and Conciliation Resources have documented a number of these
innovations. The panel will look at the findings of the report and
discuss which innovations might provide valuable lessons for peace
