I won't engage in Mafia politics- Muntu to FDC
FDC president Maj Gen (rtd) Mugisha Muntu has upheld his stance saying he can't employ any other political method apart from structural reforms.
Muntu, is once again facing stiff resistance from a group of party members loyal to FDC founder Kizza Besigye who insist that Muntu has failed to run the powerful opposition institution but rather crashed it under the pretext of building grassroots structures.
This faction blames their Candidates underperformance in the recently concluded election on Muntu saying he failed to parade the structures to protect the vote. They further accuse him of suffocating the defiance campaign.
Muntu has always argued that unless the party establishes strong grassroots infrastructures, the party will never be in government.
Growing Disagreements
The Muntu group believes in FDC functioning as a party and believes in setting up structures while the defiance group pursued activism. This continued clash of opinion over strategy has affected the party'.
"We could not even organize primaries because they do not believe in it. We did not have our structures involved in the elections and, instead, we talked of power 10, which was not also in existence," said one FDC die hard.
