{UAH} Israel’s genius at planning
By Timothy Kalyegira
I have recently been reading up on how the Israelis planned and carried out their 1976 raid on Entebbe.
As one of President Obote's former bodyguards told me in 2006, these are people one has to keep as far away from as possible.
They are deadly people: deadly in their very high intelligence, efficiency, their ability to think fast in any situation, their in-depth knowledge of their enemies' capabilities, intentions and preparedness, and that Israeli patience and ability to plan down to the tiniest detail.
If they had wanted to overthrow the Uganda government in 1976, it was all there for them to take in just a day. If Israel wanted to overthrow all the governments of East Africa and the Great Lakes region, it would take them two days to accomplish the task.
Israel's justice system
What I wonder about them most, though, is their justice system and its ruthless objectivity.
Nobody in Israel is above the law, be it the president, prime minister or any citizen.
The day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left Uganda, July 5, 2016, the Israeli TV station Channel 2 reported that the police had started investigating him over a gift he allegedly got from a foreign businessman.
Netanyahu dismissed the investigation as "nonsense" and said every time he goes on a foreign trip, the police starts to investigate him. But the police will still investigate him and he will not be able to stop it.
In 1998 or 1999, the police started an investigation on the-then First Lady Sara Netanyahu over some misdemeanor.
Presidents of Israel and Mayors of Jerusalem have been investigated by the police and sent to jail. The justice system makes no exception for anyone.
But those minds of the Jews, those alert minds with high intelligence?
We need help with our minds, I will say again and again. We need to address the lack of full mental development on this continent of ours.
Without it, some of these countries will continue to use $10,000 to achieve results that in our case requires five million dollars.
My research into the quality of the content that we Africans publish on social media has dealt the final blow to the little faith I still had left in us. We must try and address the problem of our lack of mental development. Something has to be done.
It is not the lack of resources, good leaders, good government or political stability that is Africa's problem but the lack of full mental development.
No matter how many international schools we start in Uganda, no matter how many Ugandans go abroad for Masters and PhDs, no matter how "exposed' we get from frequent international travel, until the question of mental depth and focus is addressed, we shall remain largely as we are, a typical third world country.
