{UAH} Why Ruto’s childhood friends still can’t believe he is Deputy President

Moses Nekyon/WBK/Edward P'Ojim,

How do you crack this one? Even I today, after more than 3 decades, still can't believe that blood-soaked Rwandan cut-throat Kayibanda Museveni is "President" of Uganda. Try as I might, I have still failed to crack this enigma. So it might prove with the enigma of Mr William Ruto.

Deputy President William Ruto cheered up mourners during the burial of his younger brother by recalling his childhood experiences.

Speaking during the burial of Harisson Kiptoo Korir at the family's home in Kamagut, Mr Ruto said that his childhood friends were finding it hard to understand he is the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

"Your excellency, my friend Kilimendi (Clement) and others whom I grew up with, find it difficult to recognise me as the Deputy President. I was here yesterday and one even called me 'Wee William'," the Deputy President said on Wednesday amid laughter.

The DP said that it was good President Uhuru Kenyatta had attended his late brother's send-off so that his friends and villagers can confirm that he indeed is the deputy president.

When he took to the podium, President Kenyatta sought to confirm to the villagers that indeed Ruto was his Deputy.

President Kenyatta made a surprise visit by attending the funeral service of his deputy's brother and even found time to be shown a simple two-roomed house Mr Ruto was living in when he was selling chicken.
