{UAH} Kiir- No More UN troop deployment, Warns UN on attempts to colonize Juba
BY AMBROSE MUSIIME ON AUGUST 10, 2016
South Sudanese government of National Unity has strongly rejected the United States proposed deployment of 4000 troops in the war torn country.
Minister Makuei told the media in Juba that "TGONU interpreted the hasty intervention by the pen holder (USA) to mean that the Pen holder disagrees with the decisions of the IGAD plus Heads of State and Governments with the view to influence the decision of the UN Security council."
He also slammed the Draft saying it "seriously undermined the Sovereignty of the Republic of South Sudan as a UN member state.
"The Government of National Unity rejected the draft proposal expressing alarm and apprehension at the terms and the intentions of the penholder." Makuei said.
The minister added that the provision for "potential action" of the draft proposal is an undisguised threat against the Government.
"The government of national unity called on the UN Security council to judge the Republic of South Sudan objectively and acknowledge its sincere commitment to the implementation of the ARCSS"
He further stated that the invoking chapter VII and imposing the arms embargo would further weaken the security capacity of the Republic of South Sudan.
Has said TGONU called on UNMISS to coordinate with the Government to ensure unrestricted access, so as to ensure the security of UNMISS Personnel.
This month African Union and regional bock IGAD agreed to deploy foreign forces to strengthen UNMISS activities after conflict erupted in Juba last month.
The United States has already proposed that United Nations Security Council authorize a 4,000 strong force to strengthen UN mission and ensure total peace in the capital Juba.
However, according to the Information minister, the draft proposal for the extension of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNIMISS) mandate did not conform to deployment of a regional protection force agreed to by The Government of National Unity (TGONU) as expressed in the IGAD Plus communiqué issued two days earlier.
He noted that the Intergovernmental Authority on Development has failed to harmonize the communiqué according to the government proposal adding that UN Mission in South Sudan has also failed to achieve its objectives.
"These are the people who were brought to come and assist us in the implementation of peace process but instead are the ones throwing away the agreement and want their own systems and want to turn south Sudan into a UN protectorate for their own interests," Makuel added.
"So far there is no country in the world that has been made a protectorate but these people want it in our next government , what is happening in south Sudan is far better than what is happening in other parts of the world,"
Makuei says the intervention in Country should not be an exception, adding that South Sudan is not the only Country with crisis in the region.
