{UAH} Ms Aisha Kabanda/ Mr Owana: who can teach in Uganda? Is there a Uganda college of Teachers?

Folks:

I have spent some time thinking about the education sector in Uganda. I have many questions so hopefully those in Uganda with some agency can help us out.

1) who is eligible to teach in Ugandan schools?

2) is teaching considered a profession and therefore self regulating?

3) if 2 above, has NRM introduced the Uganda college of teachers, the equivalent of LDC?

4) If there is no such college which body registers potential teachers ad disciplines them? What qualifications must they have?

5) Or is the case that the teacher service Commission serves the role of the Ugandan College of teachers?

6) If there is no Uganda College of teachers, what  plans is NRM undertaking to set up one with the goal of registering teachers?
