{UAH} Runyoro-Rutooro an endangered language, how to rescue it

Hali Emyenda ya Bunyoro-Kitara na Tooro.

The Runyoro-Rutooro language is facing death unless something is done very quickly to rescue it.

 It is not being tested at Primary School Leaving Certificate, O and A Level. But it is tested at University and degrees are awarded.at that level.

At Primary level pupils are taught in Runyoro-Rutooro from primary one to primary six but SINCE THERE IS NO SYLLABUS FOR IT every teacher sets his/her own rules. that means every primary school teacher has his.her own Runyoro-Rutooro Orthography. As a result UNEB has refused to set examinations for Runyoro-Rutoooro.

It is in view of this impending death of Runyoro-Rutooro stake holders, the kingdoms of Bunyoro-Kitara and Tooro, and indigenous persons who are lovers of the language have made the proposals contained in the attached three-part article.

Apart from exposing the  impending death of this language to the public, it is addressed to the National Curriculum Development Centre since that is the body responsible for implementing a Government policy of using mother tongue in the Primary Schools of Uganda.

The public is informed so that members can make proposals on how to save Runyoro-Rrutooro.
