{UAH} UPDATE on UNAA lawsuit

Mr. Musoke:

For a lawyer, you are breathtakingly ignorant of UNAA's constitution.

11.7: Inspection of Books and Records: The books and records of the Association shall be open to inspection by any Member in Good Standing upon written request submitted to the Secretary. The Secretary shall acknowledge receipt of the request no later than 30 days from the date of the written request. The inspections should occur under the direct supervision of the Secretary and at a location reasonably convenient and acceptable to the same.

I told you that the records (Bank Statements, Contracts, etc) were available for your inspection in both San Diego and New Orleans provided you followed the above constitutional requirement. Can you provide the members of the forum a record where you followed the above requirement and my administration did not hold its end of the bargain?

If you want to inspect UNAA's records, put your request in writing as required by the constitution and I am sure the current administration will be more than happy to let to inspect the records under the DIRECT SUPERVISION OF THE SECRETARY at the Boston Convention.

UNAA will not share with you its records electronically so you can mudslide UNAA's members, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, service providers like you have done to the UNAA leadership the last four years.

That will never happen.

You raise so many things but 'll try to answer some of your questions:

1. I don't think you have been following this matter for the past several years.  We are not witch-hunting the current leadership.  fyi, a few of the current leaders used to demand accountability too. 

2. UNAA is a members-based organization governed by Massachusetts law.  It is a non-profit organization governed by federal law.  Both federal law and Massachusetts law provide that members have the right to inspect books and records of UNAA. Their lawyer conceded that we are entitled to enforce our inspection rights. At the hearing on Friday, the judge asked UNAA's lawyer why they have not given us the records. I have provided the Court with several emails where we demanded to inspect the books. 

3. I never said that the current leaders embezzled UNAA money.   The only leader that I know to have embezzled money is Moses Bukenya.  But I also know that UNAA money has been getting lost. e.g in 2013, about $200k disappeared in this air.  We can't know for sure unless we look at the books.  Unfortunately, the leaders have been hiding the books from us.

4.  You mention that UNAA posted records online.  Their lawyer claimed that the same thing last week at the hearing.  If you have looked at those summaries online, you'd know that they don't tell you anything.  For example, UNAA gives out lots of contracts for things that volunteers have already done.  But that is not reflected on the summaries. There are a dozens of commission agents but we don't know what service they provide.  For some years, the federal tax returns filed with the IRS are different from the client copies posted on UNAA's website. etc

Finally, I have a question for you:  are you opposed to members inspecting UNAA books?  If so, why?
