Agreeable, Abraham Lincoln I heard and even read about him in some history books on America with his contributions for the betterment of African-Americans as far as slavery is concern. Question is; did he not have slave in his household? On the other hand, it seems you are running very fast, since it seem you are trying to tell us that the late Martin Luther King Junior and his several fellow African-Americans with friends were not the persons behind the human rights campaign to votes­­, which came to fruition in 1964.

YES, there was Civil Right Act of 1866, then why have the late Martin Luther King Junior and his several fellow African-Americans with friends campaigning for­? I think, the Republican (GOP) have failed African-Americans purposely with other minorities since their policies from the days of Abraham Lincoln had never been successful.

On the issue of your comparing Uganda politics whereby we just jump from the Saucepans direct into the fire, I feel you might be wrong. Why? Bcos the current 32 plus years and still counting NRA/M7ism had duped our majority folks easily. The bitter truth is that the likes of Sekandi, Bukenya and, or Mzee Dr Ssemogerere with his DP have failed Ugandans due to them just being submerged by the duped majority!

Lastly, I think OBAMA presidency has been an eight years period meanwhile the injustice against African – Americans had taken some 400 to 500 hundreds years, and still counting. This means the Democrats party leadership under President OBAMA cannot do much miracles to do complete change. Do not forget, that the GOP and her Tea party – Right Wing wanted OBAMA to be a single term leader of America by making such proclamation, they sabotaged the OBAMA regime. At time, I do think you are not a resident in American two party dictatorship country?

fyi, republicans had black congresspeople before democrats did.  And Colin Powell is a republican and he was polling very well in the republican party before he decided not to run for president.   But I am not really big on the symbolism of black elected officials.  It is like someone telling me that i should celebrate Sekandi's post because I am catholic and muganda...but how does his post help me?  I would rather have a cabinet filled by Bakiga if I can find drugs at Mulago, drive in Kla without portholes, pick up a newspaper and not read about a new corruption scandal, etc.  For African Americans, I'd rather have good schools, affordable healthcare, security on the streets, good incomes, etc.  None of those things have gotten better since Obama became president!  The past 30 years has seen so many black leaders elected to office.  They do well for themselves but their communities don't improve much!  

As for black gains from democratics vs republicans, most gains for black people were from republican efforts...emancipation (Abraham Lincoln was a republican), the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed with overwhelming support of republicans but it was opposed by most democratic congresspeople, the Voting Right Act of 1965 was again passed based on overwhelming republican support.  If you look at democratic politics in the 50s and 60s, most southern democrats opposed many proposed civil rights bills. In fact, democrats in southern states abandoned the democratic party because of the civil rights laws that the democratic party leadership helped push through congress.

I am not staying in America but on reading from many media houses and from other historical books. I think African – Americans or Africans in general have gain in the Democrats politics whereby they got an African – American as a President of America. Just take in the latest leadership contests of the Republican (GOP) they play the politics of racism whereby they have to throw away the better candidates and took Donald TRUMP.

Do you think the GOP will nominate a minority communities to be its leader? Why could they not support Dr. Ben Carson, Marco Rubio and or Ted Cruz? I think it was because of racism philosophy. I think even if it were a certain articulate persons of minority such person could have never been accepted!
