Parliament grows to 431 MPs
The number of directly elected Members of Parliament has grown from 427 to 431 after the swearing-in of four more members

The number of directly elected Members of Parliament has grown from 427 to 431 after the swearing-in of four more members.
The new MPs were elected last month from four newly created districts.
They are Catherine Lamwaka (Omoro district), Noeline Kisembo (Kibaale), Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi (Rubanda) and Jennifer Mbabazi Kyomuhendo (Kagadi); all from the ruling NRM party.
House Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, who was particularly all smiles for the Omoro woman MP, urged the new legislators to uphold the Constitution and contribute to debates in the House within the Rules of Procedure.
The new MPs will be given shs200M for a car, a new iPad and an office to ease their work.
