{UAH} Simon who bust the nut? - 62-Year-Old Woman Is Pregnant
A 62-year-old Spanish doctor shocked the world after announcing she is eight months pregnant.
Although she started menopause two decades ago, Lina Alvarez is expected to give birth in October, the Daily Mail reports.
"I feel like a woman in her 30s," said Alvarez, who also gave birth to a child when she was 52. "To feel better than this is impossible."
While it is normal to feel excited about pregnancy, Alvarez's history made this an even more special surprise for her.
In addition to the 10-year-old boy, she also has a 27-year-old son. The older son was injured by a gynecologist while Alvarez was pregnant. He has needed constant care since birth.
Alvarez's marriage fell apart soon after her son was born because of his special needs. Since then, her life has revolved around taking care of her son.
"It was a life of tears," she said. "For years I cried every day because I could not face my son's disease. He had to be in hospital twice a week."
"I am very happy because I am living now my reward for so much suffering," she added. "It is a miracle."
For years, Alvarez dreamed of having another child, despite the odds against her.
"I always wanted to be a mother again, but most medical experts said no," explained Alvarez. "However, some years ago I met a gynecologist who agreed to help me if the tests were OK and they were positive so he planted an embryo."
Despite a 6 percent chance of success, Alvarez got pregnant with a baby girl while in her 60s.
"Everything is going perfectly," she said. "I feel like I'm having a second chance and the pregnancy has made me feel younger and stronger."
"When she will be 30, I will be 90," noted Alvarez. "I will be a grandmother as well as a mother and so what, the fact is that my daughter will have been brought up."
Alvarez is not the only older woman to become pregnant, The Huffington Post reports
