{UAH} AND ON A POINT OF REFLECTION

As Uganda continues and so hard to find the bottom of the pit, as a people that have lived through these tragedies, for all our lives have been entangled in tragedies one way or the other, have a right, to take a moment and look on how the path of Uganda death was built by Ugandans. And there are several rolls that Ugandans themselves have played in creating that path. As this weekend starts I am going to start with path number one.

 

We as Ugandans are killers, and we detest charging any one of murder.

 

As I was growing up in our little village, it always amazed me how Ugandans had a fantasy of killing individuals. And I am not talking about tribal killing, but I am talking about a Muganda man looking in a face of a summarily convicted thief and beating him to his death. And I am using a term him for most of them were men or boys. And the stolen property was in most cases none valuable, so and so’s son has stolen a Jack fruit, and the entire village runs after him and screaming a thief a thief and a thief, by the third calling time, the poor fellow is on the ground and he is dead. The second part that always confused me was the fast track they had to beat him up so that he dies before the Omutongole arrives. That to me was a proof that  Baganda knew that a very serious crime was being committed. Until when I left the country, and as far as I can remember in my life, in all those that were killed and continue to be killed under this very terrible mob justice in Uganda, not a single Ugandan has ever been charged with murder.

 

When you look at Iddi Amin’s government, it started public killing, and I am not concerned about those that were put on firing squad for they were charged and found  guilty, I am more concerned about a Public Security officer {PSU} or a State research officer, a Police officer or an army officer, walking into a bar gets into a fight and bullets fly killing people. And yes the Obote one government had started it for example The Nakulabye/Ndeeba massacre but by far and large it got very expanded under Iddi Amin. There are people that worked in State research and many Uganda government institutions at a time,  that arrest and murdered Ugandans without charging them and without taking them to courts of law. When Iddi Amin left power, there are those of us that stood up to demand a public commission of inquiry on who during Iddi Amin government killed who. Sadly The UPC government frustrated all those calls and the commission never happened. At the departure of Iddi Amin, The UPC turn coats registered in each and every organization that lead Uganda from Lule’s government, to Yoweri Museveni’s government. Under all these governments, very many Ugandans have lost their lives, not a single Ugandan has ever been charged with murder.

 

The Obote two government blessed Acholi and Langi to go to West Nile and murder every living Madi Kakwa Lugbara and Banubbi. They lumped all of them into an Iddi Amin tribe, and they withdrew the entire government services from West Nile. To The UPC 2 government, the entire West Nile region was not a part of Uganda for Iddi Amin was a terrible president. And what is funny when I see the manner at which many Africans go after Iddi Amin in these forums, one wonders if the entire West Nile region was Iddi Amin.  Many West Nilers died and those that survived did so for they decided to run out of the country to Sudan or DRC. Acholi and Langi have set up a very bad presidency in our country, for Museveni camping them was built on their attack on Uganda government forces, and then Museveni abused that response to murder so many.

I get very troubled when I think about a government in Uganda that will pay Acholi and Lango of their atrocities in West Nile, for if they can cut government services off the entire Western Region for more than 15 straight years, don’t kid yourself that government services cannot be cut off Acholi and Lango for 20 years, in this Uganda it is only when. There is a litany of Acholi and Langi that drove into West Nile and they murdered and rape everyone they found out there. Until to today, there is not a single Acholi or Langi that has ever stood up to put a finger on one of them, yet they know them and thy are their own sons and husbands. Not a single Langi or Acholi to today has ever been charged with murder.

 

Luwero triangle is a very interesting one, for when you go after Acholi that came into Luwero, raped and murdered as many people as they want, you start to realize that actually as Acholi were murdering them, Baganda were also murdering each other. And yes Col. Ogole refused to protect UPC {Uganda People’s Congress}  members in Luwero, but the people that killed those UPC members were their fellow Baganda, as Acholi are murdering the rest of Baganda. When any government is fighting a war in Africa, it’s very first mission is to protect its party members, Luwero district had so many Baganda UPC members, because they were not Acholi, Col Ogole refused to protect them and they all died. When you have Baganda killing themselves, and you have pigs like Col Ogole murdering people left and center, adding on Museveni and Dr Kiiza Besigye that were murdering people for fun, yes you end up with so many people dead in Luwero triangle. Not a single Muganda, an Acholi let alone Movementists to today has ever been charged with murder.

 

Before I live the Luwero triangle, it is important to put on record that many women  and girls out of Luwero were taken into forced marriage to Acholi and Langi soldiers. There are reports of women that were yanked off their 2 moths babies and the babies were left with the fathers that would not breast feed them, but Acholi and Langi wanted the women, and they took them forcefully. It is important to note that to today, even lawyers like George Okello that preach to be fighters of human rights, have never stated anywhere publicly let alone privately that going into Luwero district and force marry women, forcing some of them to abandon their 2 months babies is wrong.

 

The Movement has been in power for most of the life of most Ugandans, catastrophes after catastrophe has happened in our country. The camping of Acholi was wrong and it took so many innocent lives. The war in South Sudan was terrible, the war in DRC was terrible, the war in East to find Lakwena and Konny was terrible. In all these wars, UPDF has been recorded as a brutal force that kills and rapes women and children. It is important to note that most of the UPDF officers are Baganda and Westerners. And I think this is what brings me to the gist of this writing, to today not a single UPDF member has been arrested and charged with murder. And do you know why it bothers me? Because yes Ugandans are killers but not only killers, they know the people that murder Ugandans they just detest charging them. When you look yourself in a mirror as a UPDF officer don’t you really wonder why that 9 year old Congolese was raped by your buddy? Why did you refuse to report that buddy to authority? Because we all as society detest charging any one of murders. Ugandans are all killers, it only depends on who you are killing for. And if you fail to find who to murder for, you get your fellow killer and drink a firkin bourbon as you watch who will be next to offer Ugandans for you, to murder next.

This writing is dedicated to Wasswa and Babirye the grand babies of Mr. Mugobansonga, whose daughter was forced to marry a Langi in Dokolo, leaving her two twins with a father when they were both under a month. They both died. And sadly no body, no Ugandan, no institution, not even George Okello as a Lawyer practicing law in UK, has ever stood up to oppose the habit of Acholi and Langi forcing women to marry them in Uganda in 2016.
