He is an Italian priest from Limido;Comasco Italy born in 1934 he came to Uganda in 1964 aged 30. He breathed his last today morning at St Francis Hospital Nsambya at 83years. He had been a priest for 54years.
He has been battling cancer of the bone for five years.Father John was the proprietor of Radio Maria,Bishop cipriano kihangire SSS;Luzira,Bishop Cipriano primary school kitintale.St Bruno Catholic church,St James Bbiina church ,EMAUS FOUNDATION that pays schhol fees for needy children,St James Vocational school.
He had intentioms of buliding Bishop Cipriano University.
He sponsored many students mainly those who were affected by the LRA war.
He was once accused of training rebels but was acquitted of the charges after the government realized that he was just rehabilitating and helping former child soldiers to reform and live a better life.Father liked and loved Uganda.He built BCK SSS Luzira,the first school in Uganda to have self contained hostels,smart boards in all the classrooms.
He wanted equality among students,that is one of the reasons why in Bp.Cipriano,students are not allowed to take edibles; he thought some students would feel out of place because they had less edibles.
He is also the guardian of Daniella Atim Chameleon`s wife.
On visitations,parents had to leave their cars outside the school gate so you would not be able to know,whose Dad or mum had which type of car ,who came by taxi,foot, etc.thus promoting equality among students.
During the LRA war,he ferried northerners majority of them,Women and children to kampala and took care of them at his home in Kampala.His favorite song was "there is a redeemer....' and no mass would be complete without it.
