{UAH} Muslims have been and are still 3rd class citizens of this country(BY SHABAN KALEMA)

When the idea of having the Islamic University in Uganda came, many of our Christian brothers and Sisters then felt uncomfortable with it. They objected for an Islamic University in Uganda citing bogus excuses among which, Islamising Uganda....and if by then, the current spate of terrorism was on a high, it would have been part of their justification that its going to train Scientists who will make rockets and bombs to blow up Ugandans especially non Muslims. To have a breakthrough over the issue of IUIU, it was decreed that 10% of Students admitted should be Christians. Its not the same case on UCU or other Christian Institutions to have a quota for Muslims.

Its a fact, Muslims have been and are still 3rd class citizens of this country. My party JEEMA is predominantly Muslims but in many instances, a section of the public have felt uncomfortable with it to un extent of calling it/us Islamists, Alshabab or some sorts. In fact, few of them have either read JEEMA documents or interructed with the JEEMA hierarchy to see that it even have reverends and Bishops.

Thats how Muslims have lived in Uganda right from the colonial days up to date. This is something i cant shy away from saying. Its a systematic program to keep Muslims at bay.
With the petition to the President over Islamic Banking by Church leaders, citing Islamisation of Uganda through that system, Church leaders errored. What was exibited in that document was envy, jealousy and misreprepresenation of facts. In fact, Church based organisations will benefit more from the proceeds of this System than any other religious setup. Uganda is for us all, no one has a right to pre judge others. More over, its by choice for any bank to adopt any system of their choice.

This also goes to the issue of Kadhi courts, we will demand for them to protect our families. This silly excuse that we shall have parallel judicial system is also wrong. Since religious marriage is recognised by the laws of the land, so the establishment of Kadhi courts is needed to cater for Muslim families.This is not something we can shy away to demand. Its our right, its not a favor
