{UAH} Pope Francis names 17 new cardinals, three Africans on the list.

The 200,000 pilgrims assembled today ( Sunday 9/10/2016 ) in St Peter's Square were, after the Holy Mass celebrated by the Pope to commemorate the three-day Marian jubilee festivities, taken by great surprise when the Pope decided to read the list of the 17 new cardinals he had just appointed. They will officially be created next November 19, 2016. Among them are three very great African prelates : Archbishop Dieudonné Nzapalainga ( Bangui, Central African Republic ), Archbishop Maurice Piat ( Port-Louis, Mauritius Islands ), and emeritus Archbishop Sebastian Koto Khoari ( retired Archbishop of Mohahe Hoek, Lesotho). The three have been rewarded for their very great contribution to peace and devotion to the Church to which they have rendered an immense contribution in spite of enormous challenges.
The list includes 3 europeans, 3 Latino-Americans, 3 Asians, 3 Americans (USA).
Belgium's very formidable Archbishop Joseph De Kesel of Malines-Brussels is also nominated, a thing which will indeed give immense joy to Europe! He's a prelate who is so popularly admired all over the Old continent!

1- Archbishop Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio to Syria ( awarded for his courage!)

2- Archbishop Joseph De Kesel, Malines-Brussels

3- Archbishop Dieudonné Nzapalainga, Bangui, Central African Republic, he's
    going to be the youngest cardinal, he's less than 50.

4- Archbishop Carlos Sierra, Madrid, Spain

5- Archbishop Sergio de Rocha, Brasilia, Brazil

6- Archbishop Blase Cupic, Chicago, USA

7- Archbishop Patrick D'Rozario, Dhaka, Bangladeshi ( awarded for effort to lead a
     Church in great difficulties and for the effort for intereligious dialogue)

8- Archbishop Baltazar Porras Cardozo, Merida, Venezuela

9- Archbishop Maurice Piat, Port-Louis, Mauritius Islands

10- Archbishop Carlos Aguiar Retes, Tlanepantla, Mexico

11- Archbishop John Ribat, Port Moresby, Papua-New Guinea

12- Archbishop Joseph Tobin, Indianapolis, USA

13- Archbishop Kevin Farrel, an American(USA) who is Vatican's Minister for the
       Laity, Family  Life, etc..

All these thirteen prelates are aged less than 80, and so they can take part in any
eventual Papal election.
The following are the four cardinals who are above 80 and who have been rewarded for the great service rendered to the Church.

1- Rev Father Ernest simoni (88) from Albania. spent 18 years in prison for battling
     Communist laws and anti-religious dictatorship

2- Archbishop Anthony Soter, retired Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

3- Archbishop Renato Cortia, retired Archbishop of Navora, Italy

4- Archbishop Sebastian Koto Khoari O.M.T., retired Bishop of Mohale Hoek,
    Lesotho
