{UAH} Sample of top 10 international media Facebook page traffic(By Timothy Kalyegira)
Sample of top 10 international media Facebook page traffic
October 14, 2016
1. Fox News - 1,115,500
2. BBC - 873,768
3. ABC News - 864,763
4. Huffington Post - 785,415
5. CNN - 590,591
6. New York Times - 467,059
7. MSNBC - 239,039
8. Washington Post - 189,417
9. Politico - 135,039
10. Al-Jazeera English - 89,926
Every time I monitor the Facebook traffic to these international TV news channels and newspapers, Fox News is at number one in terms of traffic to its page.
(The figures you see here are the actual numbers of people who visited each of these pages in the 24 hours between yesterday October 14 and today, October 15.)
Most well-educated people or "elite" tend to dismiss Fox News as a channel for White or right-wing American racists and so on.
It well might be, but just see the difference between the traffic to the BBC Facebook page and Fox News.
And if you notice, apart from Fox News to a degree, all the other media companies support Hilary Clinton or at least prefer her to win the November 8 presidential election.
Most of them have openly attacked Donald Trump for months and months while Fox News is viewed as the most sympathetic channel to Trump.
This is the reason I am eagerly waiting for election day.
I want to see which rules or shapes the world today, traditional and respectable media like BBC and the New York Times or social media, where Trump consistently leads Clinton in the number of social media followers and social media engagement?
In the mainstream opinion polls, Clinton is ahead of Trump but in the computer-aggregated online news and social media traffic, Trump leads Clinton.
