{UAH} WHY BESIGYE SAYS THAT AMIN WAS BETTER THAN MUSEVENI
MBABAZI DRAFTED AMIN'S DECREE FOR LIFE PRESIDENT!
BESIGYE'S UNCLE WAS THE MAIN PROPOSER!
In 1976, the then President of Uganda who had been promoted by the
Defence Council (set up by Milton Obote in 1966) from General to Field
Marshal in 1975 as he was about to be elected OAU Chairperson,
abrogated the 1971 Army Proclamation, which had promised a military
government for only five years and was declared by the Defence Council
as President for life.
The proposal to name him Life President (by the time of his fall in
1979, he had produced t-shirts with his portrait as King of Africa),
was brought by elders from North Kigezi District led by K.M.S. Kikira,
who later chaired 1980 Electoral Commission that rigged DP victory to
UPC and sparked off the five year bush war in Luwero Triangle. Kikira
is a paternal uncle to Dr. Warren Kizza Besigye.
According to Timothy Kalyegira, the Legal Advisor to the North Kigezi
elders, was a young lawyer, working as Corporation Secretary of Libyan
Arab Uganda Bank (now Tropical Bank) John Patrick Amama Mbabazi.
Despite being an insider in Idi Amin's Government ( He was not alone.
There were Wannume Kibedi, Paul Etiang, Dani Nabudere, Edward
Rugumayo, and others), he was a FRONASA rebel led by Yoweri Museveni,
where he was linked by Ndugu Ruhakana Rugunda.
If it is true that, he guided the North Kigezi elders to Idi Amin, was
he doing it in good faith or, as a rebel, he wanted to tarnish, the
image of gullible Idi Amin, to discredit him internationally? North
Kigezi and Rukungiri in particular was a darling of Amin and it was
where he announced the 1972 September invasion by guerrillas from
Tanzania, who included, Yoweri Museveni, as a National Heroes Day.
For a man to work for Idi Amin Government why fighting it from within
and was not detected, and upon Amin's fall, he became an aide to the
new State Minister for Defence (Yoweri Museveni) and he later made him
Legal Commissar and Secretary for Defence, could not be under
estimated.
He however in 2016 and 2016 stripped himself and the myth is no more!
