The aim of Alcohol Awareness Week is to get people thinking about alcohol - how it affects us as individuals, families, communities and society as a whole.
- It is estimated that one in four adults in England drink at a level that increases the risk of chronic ill health or injury
- Alcohol is one of the three biggest lifestyle risk factors for disease and premature death in the UK, after smoking and obesity
- Alcohol costs the NHS around £3.5 billion each year.
