{UAH} Buganda Kingdom/Mengo call off Baganda youths invasion of Bunyala most welcome as mature/reponsible development.

Buganda Kingdom thank you a million times for the timely call of the Buganda youths planned invasion of Bunyala which had been planned for this week.

Thank you for averting a possible bloodshed which would have taken place as Baganda youths were planning to forcefully remove Banyala youths from the Ibaale County headquarters. That county belong to Banyala.

Banyoro people are grateful to Mengo establishment for having seen what was going to happen as the youths of the two sides were going to struggle to retain control of the county headquaters of Ibaale county.

The result was going to be bloodshed which would have escalated beyond the county headquarters.

Mengo's act was a most mature, and most responsible act. That is what Ugandans of today should do while settling issues.  The days of the gun are over.

Mengo and Banyoro must know that today its not beneficial to either side to engage in bloodletting. The days when the Lost counties issue was settled by the gun are  over and should be behind us.

People should realise that the blood which was shed fighting for the Lost Counties which culminated into the 1964 Buyaga/Bugangaizi Referendum should not be repeated.

A word of caution;

Buganda kingdom leaders must be informed that their youths are acting violently through ignorance of the background of the Lost Counties'

Baganda youths of 20-30 years are not educated on the background of this subject. For Baganda youths they believe the Lost Counties really belong to Buganda and the Banyoro are trying to dispossess them wrongly so they must fight for their land.

It is imperative that Mengo must educate their youths on the facts of the Lost Counties.

Briefly, for the youths who are ignorant of the historicl facts of the Lost counties, here are the facts. These seven counties were stolen from Bunyoro-Kitara by the British colonialist when they invaded Bunyoro-Kitara in the 1833-99 war where the colonilaists slaughtered over two million Banyoro. The British colonialists introduced a modern precesion gun, the Maxim, long range, gun which was used to kill Banyoro from a distance of five miles away, where they could not reply because they could not see the guns.

Baganda were recruited in thousands, actually over ten thousand Baganda soldiers assisted the British colonialists to invade and fight Bunyoro.

British-Baganda forces invaded and killed Banyoro in millions and at the end  of the war the British, without involving Banyoro, concluded the 1900 Agreement in which the British DONATED the seven counties to Buganda as a reward for assisting the British imperialists to invade and kill Banyoro.

The act of donating Bunyoro land to Buganda was illegal and is not supported by conventional international wrfare agreements.
Under international law a vanquished nation land must be left INTACT THE LAND IS NEVER SHARED BY THE VICTORS.

LOOK AT GERMANY WHICH HAS LOST TWO WORLD WARS BUT GERMAN LAND WAS NEVER SHARED BETWEEN THE VICTORS.

EQUALLY, WHEN BRITAIN FOUGHT ARGETINA OVER THE FALKLAND WAR,  AND ARGENTINE WAS DEFEATED, HER LAND WAS NOT SHARED BY THE BRITISH.

Therefore, the British had not right to grab Bunyoro land IN 1900 and donate it to Buganda becuse bUNYORO LAND HAD NOT BECOME BRITISH LAND, It was not British possesson.

Finally, Banyoro are calling upon Baganda to realise that Banyoro's claim for their Lost Counties WILL NEVER BE CONCLUDED UNTILL ALLl THE COUNTIES ARE RESTORED AND  GONE BACK TO BUNYORO-KITARA.
