The Bunyala kingdom is today, led by Isaabanyala Cpt.Becka Kimeze, officially marking the grave of Jaasi, Kabaleega's son, and his mother 's grave also, in Galilaaya town of Bunyala.
Banyoro, particularly, Banyala and Baruuli, are proud to remember the son of Kabaleega, buried at Galilaaya, who fought from their soil in resisting British and Buganda colonialism.
Jaasi, Kaabaleega's elder son was the overall commander of the Banyoro forces resisting British colonial forces which had invaded Bunyoro-Kitara since 1830.
Jaasi is recognised as a gallant fighter who bravely faced British colonial armies. The last days of Banyoro resistence to British colonialism were based in Bunyala(Bugerere), Buruuli and Apac.
Based on this fact the Isaabanyala, on September 30, while marking his eight years on the Bunyala throne declared in a way of reminding everybody that Banyala/Baruuli are pure Banyoro. He said Buruuli and Bunyala were before the invasion of the British, were part and percel of Bunyoro=Kitara. He said today, since the installation of the Banyala and Baruuli Cultural leaders, the Isaabanyala and Isaabaruuli, they have become independent kingdoms within Uganda. They are officially recognised by the Uganda Constitution.
The attached picture show Isaabanyala, Cpt Becka Kimeze being officially crowned Isaabalya of the kingdom of Bunyala.
