Donald Trump did not win the election; the Democrats lost it! About 6 million of them – compared to 2012 election -- stayed home for any one of the following reasons:

1.     Hillary Clinton did not have a message that excited them. Her message was somewhat bland and nebulous – "Stronger Together" whereas Trump had a more direct message people could relate to, such as ""Make America Great Again", renegotiate trade deals, bring jobs back, build a wall, etc. Some of them may not be achievable but don't politicians make promises they cannot deliver? Still, voters could identify with Trump's agenda. OR,

2.     Hillary Clinton's campaign tactics were terrible. She never gave the people the reason why they should vote FOR her but rather why do should vote AGAINST Trump because he was temperamentally unfit to be president. You do not run the political campaign like that. You tell voters what you stand for and why they should vote FOR you. This was missing in Clinton's campaign message. OR,

3.     Democrats were misled by the media into believing that Clinton had already won so there was no need for them to bother to vote. Had 1 million Blacks who stayed home bothered to vote, Hillary would have swept Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan and possibly Ohio and denied Trump the presidency.

Fortunately, this self-inflicted hibernation will be temporary. In 2018, there will be elections for the Senate and Congress. By then Trump's reckless antics would have sent even Republicans fleeing to the hills. Needless to say, disaffected Democrats will not stay at home in 2018 but storm voting booths with a vengeance and retake majorities in both houses and do to the Republicans what they did to Obama in 2010 – pull the rug from under any Trump legislative agenda.

Politics has a long history
