{UAH} Fidel Castro slept with 35,000 women
ComradeAlan Barigye,
Comrade Fidel Castro took a very liberal view on sex. In this, he was probably similar to Chairman Mao Ze Dong. Mao also had countless relationships and liasons with numerous women, until in later life that he finally settled down to one wife. In fact, Chairman Mao is known to have left several wives behind as he built up the Red Army and the Communist Party. He fought so many battles, in some of which his entire family would be wiped out. In the Long March, which lasted one whole year and covered 4,000 miles, he started with 85,000 troops and only 8,000 survived. The rest, including his then wife, were wiped out by the Koumintang nationalist army in brutal battles. It is believed Mao left his wife behind as he led his troops forward, but she did not survive and he never saw her again.
The important thing about relationships between men and women is if they are free and consensual. Of course if a man is married, then he takes on certain obligations to the marriage, to the wife and to children of the relationship. But communists have never been very clear on this point. Even Karl Marx, who was a very devoted family man, had an extra-marital relationship and a resultant child, and his friend and life-long collaborator Freidrich Engels had to claim paternity of the child in order to help save Marx's marriage.
Personally, I don't know how many girlfriends or liaisons I have had in my life, but it must be over 100 altogether. At one point, I had 9 girlfriends in different countries on different continents, I must have spent more than half of all my total income on women. But since 2009 when I got my last divorce, I have been single, and my life is totally uncomplicated. In fact, this period is the happiest in my life because I am not tied to any woman. I can do what I want. I don't have to hurt any woman anymore because I do not make any promises that I can't keep. I think this is the attitude that Fidel Castro too had, he never really had a "wife" in the conventional family sense. There is no point keeping an unhappy and destructive relationship going- I think his life style essentially questioned the essence of "Family", something we communists have never been able to provide a precise ideological position on. But the stories that his aides were collecting women for him from the beaches is not true. Most of the women he had relationships with were members of the party, and the relationships were by and large consensual.
