LIRA-Police in Lira Central Police Station are holding a woman for alleged robbery. Police said the woman is part of the gang which has being carrying out various robberies in Lira Town.
David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest today and identified the suspect as Sharon Akullo, 34, a resident of Tesobar in Adyel Division in Lira Town.
"We picked her on Tuesday evening from Tesobar where she was hiding. She is one of the suspects we were hunting for. They are many but she tops our list, we will take her to court," Mudong said .
He said the woman had been linked to many killings of boda boda riders and attacks on people who leave the town for home late.
According to Mudong, last week, Akello was alleged to have sent one of her boys on a robbery mission to steal a motorcycle in Onywako Trading Centre, Bar-Sub-county but his luck ran out when a mob killed him.
He said the police have prepared charges of aggravated robbery against her under reference
