The Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza has demanded that government reveals the whereabouts of women arrested last week in Kasese district.

 
Over 20 women are reported to have been arrested following clashes between royal guards of the Rwenzururu king, Charles Wesley Mumbere and security forces, which left at least 46 guards dead and over 100 people arrested.
 
Kiiza, while speaking to the media on Saturday afternoon at Parliament, notes that the women have been held in unknown locations beyond the mandatory 48 hours stipulated by law.
 
She claims that some reportsINDICATE that some are held in Mbarara and Masaka prisons, however this has not been confirmed yet.

Kiiza was speaking shortly after a meeting with a group of women activists, under the Women's Movement, who paid her a visit as Kasese Woman MP.

Sophie Kyagulanyi, who led the ten-woman delegation, stressed that government should follow the law and allow the incarcerated women to access lawyers and later be produced in court.
 
She reveals that the women will line up a team of lawyers from the Uganda Association of Female Lawyers (FIDA), Legal Aid Service Providers, Youth Legal Relief and will consult with the Uganda Law Society to provide free legal aid to the women.
