{UAH} News:Bishop of Woolwich Appointed
Robert Atuhairwe,
-- Woolwich, my former stumping ground, gets its own 'home' bishop. Woolwich is now truly Ugandan. I wish I never left Woolwich, it is the place that is truly my home, having spent most years of my life on its cobbled streets. I love Woolwich,, but everything changed in Woolwich on the afternoon of 22 May 2013, when two Nigerian muslim converts Adebolayo and Adebowale beheaded soldier Lee Rigby less than 200 meter from my front door, in one of the most shocking acts of grotesque violence and barbarity I have ever witnessed. There are now very bad relations between Africans- who are very upset with Muslims because of the racist backlash they sufferred after the murder of Lee Rigby. This new bishop is brought in to try to heal the rift- to build bridges between muslim and non-muslim African communities and also with the wider communities in Woolwich. His work is cut out for him. But I wish him luck.
