UCU opens medical school

Pioneer medical school students of Church founded institution, Uganda Christian University, will commence studies in May 2017, according to Rev Can.Dr. John Senyonyi, the University vice chancellor.

Dr Senyonji has told the New Vision that they will not admit more than 50 students for a Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Surgery (MBChB) programme and 20 for Bachelor of Dental Science programme.

As the newspaper further reports, he has reassured members of the public that there will be no debacle regarding new programmes like what plagued the institution's nursing programme recently.

"The problem arose due to a change from institutional accreditation to program accreditation, which wasn't the case before." He says.

Last year, Archbishop Stanley Ntagali explained that the medical school is being established with the help of Mengo hospital. This was after a signed partnership between the two institutions.
