Dear Mr Okelld,

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 28-29 January. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.

Tube strike - Central and Waterloo & City lines
Train operators who are RMT members are taking strike action today, Thursday. Central and Waterloo & City line services are affected.

All other TfL services are unaffected, but other lines and stations are likelier to be busier than usual. Santander Cycles will be boosted at Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street and Oxford Circus.

London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London's transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.


District line
On Sunday there will be no service between Turnham Green and Richmond. This is while Network Rail carry out track work.

Jubilee line
There will be no service between Waterloo and Wembley Park on Saturday and Sunday. This is while we carry out track and drainage replacement work between Finchley Road and Wembley Park.

From approximately 00:30 until 05:00 on Saturday, there will be no Night Tube service between Waterloo and Stanmore.

Metropolitan line
Trains will not run between Aldgate and Harrow-on-the-Hill while we carry out track and drainage replacement work between Finchley Road and Wembley Park.




London Overground


On Sunday there will be no service between the following stations, due to Network Rail track work:
  Willesden Junction and Richmond
  Kilburn High Road and Euston, until midday
 
There is no service between Gospel Oak and Barking until late February. This is while Network Rail carry out major works to enable new, longer trains to run from 2018. For more information, please click here

TfL Rail


Trains will not run between Romford and Shenfield after 23:00 on Sunday. This is while Network Rail carry out track and station improvements as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan, as well as Crossrail construction work.

There is no service between Brentwood and Shenfield until late May. This is while Network Rail carry out major work at Shenfield to upgrade tracks, signalling and overhead lines.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination:

Central London - Until 17:00 tomorrow, Friday, various demonstrations will be taking place in the Parliament Square area. Roads in the area may be closed.

West London - Until late April, a contraflow and lane restrictions are in place on Chelsea Embankment, from Chelsea Bridge to Embankment Gardens. This is due to utility and Thames Tideway works.

Central London - From 05:00 on Saturday until 19:00 on Sunday, Lambeth Palace Road will be closed in both directions between Westminster Bridge roundabout and Royal Street. This is for a crane operation.

Central London - From 08:00 until 17:00 on Saturday, London Bridge will be closed northbound. This is for a crane operation.

Central London - From 07:00 until 20:00 on Sunday, various roads will be closed. This is due to an event. For full details, including information about bus diversions, please click here

  Kingsway, for repair works
  South Quay West, Wansey Street, Cardinal Place, North Wharf Roads and Bourne Street, for building works
  Westfield Eastern Access Road, for site development
  Cadogan Place, for paving
