{UAH} Gen. Saleh makes 57
Rtd Gen. Salim Saleh (Caleb Akandwanaho) made 57 years on January 14. He is a power behind the Presidency of his brother, Y. K Museveni.
For the record, Saleh was a rebel commander by the age of 22 through the years-23, 24, 25, 26-and was Army Commander at 29.
The Obote commanders must have kicked themselves when first they learn't who was making life unbearable for them.
At 25 today, most of our youths don't know how to wipe their noses and at 29, are still brandishing their papers waiting for the wind to blow them into a trash can. Col. Samson Mande was Chairman of the military court martial at 26.
FDC's Dr Besigye was Minister at 30 but it's easier to do civilian things at any age than military stuff. That's why we have had Ronald Kibuule and Evelyn Anite becoming ministers in their 20s.
Given Saleh's record, he should have at some point succeeded his brother or annexed a nearby territory. Today, he is a behind-the-scenes operator with a bias in agriculture and special engagements, and of course military consultancy at large. Once a soldier, always one; a cat cannot change its spots!
