{UAH} It's ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (NOT special duties)

A WORD FROM OKELLO LUCIIMA

It's ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (NOT special duties)

Dear M7, we were taken aback by your appointing a reigning King, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, "Ambassador, Special Duties", in office of the President. The whole world is asking: What is that?!

Even your own Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are asking: What is that? Luckily for you, they, like you, have no honour and integrity. Had they any tinge of pride and honour, and just an ounce of principles, they would have resigned en masse, like some did at the US Department of State, when another of your nutty, septuagenarian fellow traveller, unbelievably ascended to power in the US.

If you had honour, you would have named the Kyabazinga " Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary". But because you hate UPC so much, you want to avoid doing so, lest people remember that there was such posts when UPC was in power in 1980s. Yes, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu and Ssenyonga were ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary. That is what your Kyabazinga appointment is, in diplomatic and high politics speak. But your pettiness is obsessed with obliterating anything UPC. Let me remind you of a few.

1. You killed cooperatives, because you though it was too closely linked to UPC. Although these were private enterprises, you deluded yourself that you were "privatizing them. Now you are popularizing SACCOS, the non productive consumption outfits, which are dens for thieves and thinking it is the equivalents to, or substitutes to cooperatives.

2. You killed free university education and free post primary education. You have brought "government sponsorship" of a handful of privileged students. And recently, you started USE and paying for post secondary education and training. Not new at all.

3. Three, you "privatized" govt pool houses and gave National Housing & Construction Corporatio (NH&C), the agency that built govt houses, to Gadaffi and Libya to pay for arms you used to lay Luweero desolate. You have plans to build houses for state employees, and even create another construction corp in the mould of NH & Co. What did you think?

4. Fourth and finally, you picked our 1982 Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Programme, and without changing as little as a comma, passed it off as your own to the IMF and World Bank in 1987. Yet this was the same programmes and policy strategies you and your economic guru, Prof Kyesimiri scorchingly critized and condemned. But a year after you came to power, you learnt some humility.

I could go on and on, but let me stop here. Remember, humility and honour and some integrity won't hurt. Just admit, UPC knows, and did, lots of good things fir this country. You didn't need to destroy them, and later start sneaking them in, as your own initiatives. You know, we can't finish everything today. Succeeding generations will still add more. They won't destroy what previous generations built. They will add to, or perfect.

So, you didn't need to be shy about the kyabazinga's appointment, just because UPC had such a post before. It is ok. He is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. This doesn't mean the appointment is right; no. He is a traditional leader. He must not engage in partisan politics. But of course, who knows you for playing by the rules? You remember that ekyanzi of milk for Janet's grieving family? You disobeyed and deceived your own father. quaffed the milk
