{UAH} Maramagambo Forest is no more

George /Simon

The British had studied and documented our geography very well. For us , Africans, it is a skin off our teeth! It really doesn't matter - go to Kigezi or Busoga (sugar cane growers) and see what is happening!

Uganda lies in the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).  Normally the south northeast and southeast trade winds specifically those jetting in from the Atlantic Ocean making a landing in high lands of western and central Uganda. This is a similar future i.e. in western West Nile which tropical forest we decimated stupidly by tobacco growing!

Luwero is not by accident a boundary between the dry north before you reach Kamudini to see a central region similar climate in the Acholi, Kapchorwa, Bugishu and Teso sub region which receive similar winds from the Indian Ocean.  Some of the wind laden with water land in Kigezi region but not the flat regions of Anklole but then in hilly central region! These winds pic moist winds from forest . Typically you will realize that the driest region in Uganda is in the middle of the country or what is referred to as the dry corridor.

In essence Uganda is a very complex geographical /climatic area. We have both continental, micro climate.

Micro climate however largely depends on the amount of water we have from forests and water bodies.  The disruption of the ITCZ will have serious implication on Uganda climate and the beginning to that phenomenon has serious started.  Three or six years in a roll there is prolonged dry spell. Irrigation – well where do you get the water since rivers are drying up!

well who cares!
