Mexican President cancels meeting with Trump after wall order

© Provided by New York Daily News Trump's will land in Philadelphia late Thursday morning, marking his first trip on Air Force One as President. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto announced Thursday that he'd canceled a meeting with President Trump planned for next week, following the new commander-in-chief's signing of a controversial executive order to jump start construction on his promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"This morning we informed the White House that we would not attend the business meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with @POTUS," Peña Nieto tweeted in Spanish, from his official account.
"Mexico reiterates its willingness to work with the United States to achieve agreements in favor of both Nations," he added.
The announcement comes a day after Trump moved ahead with an order designed to make it clear that he was serious about building his oft-promised border wall and hours after he took to his own Twitter to harass Mexican officials about paying for it - another vow of the new President.
"The U.S. has a 60 billion dollar trade deficit with Mexico. It has been a one-sided deal from the beginning of NAFTA with massive numbers...of jobs and companies lost. If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting," Trump wrote in a pair of tweets Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, Trump signed executive orders to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, to hire 5,000 more U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and to strip federal funds for so-called "sanctuary" cities that don't arrest or detain immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.
His wall order prompted Mexico's President to publicly say that he was reconsidering a planned trip to the White House next week
