Kamya blocks Lukwago's salary again.
The bad blood between the Minister for KCCA Beti Kamya and the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago seems far from abating after the Minister blocked the Lord Mayor's salary arrears.
In a letter dated January 2 adressed to the KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi, Kamya ordered that Lukwago should not be paid a single penny until cases regarding his removal from office are definitively resolved by the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
"The Attorney General's official interpretation of the legal process that began in April 2013 and continued upto 2014 is that the Lord Mayor's emoluments from 2013 can only be resolved after the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court have conclusively determined whether the Lord Mayor was lawfully removed from office, "Kamya wrote in a strongly worded letter.
She further ordered that: "In the meantime, the Lord Mayor's benefits & emoluments can not be paid. Please inform the Lord Mayor ".
Kamya copied her letter to the Prime Minister, the Minister for Justice & Constitutional Affairs, Attorney General, Solicitor General and the KCCA Director of Legal Services.
The Lord Mayor is demanding for emoluments and benefits he wasn't paid for the period between 2013 and 2015 when he was forced out of office by government elements led by the then Minister for the Presidency Frank Tumwebaze.
Kamya's letter will add fuel to the frosty relationship she has enjoyed with the Lord Mayor with the duo locked in an ego clash and turf war at City Hall.
Below is Kamya's letter.
