Open letter to the president of the Republic of Uganda

If you were in Masindi Golf Course grounds on the 26th of January, you could have seen my father Elder Livingston Tinkamanyire Nyamutale honored with a.. I do not remember the material but he was honored with a medal from His excellency the president of Uganda.
My father served over 20 years in Police and retired in the early 90's but what surprises me, with all the efforts he used to work for the nation, my father remained poor with most of my brothers and sisters not able to get education.
I spent all my life risking my life in the hands of wrong people because my father was in Karamoja struggling with cattle wrestlers.
My father continues to suffer with no income spending months without his pension. He sold out his land to educate us at a time when he would be developing his home.
We have finished studies but most of us could not get better jobs pushing us to disguise and doing things we do not deserve. Some of my elders have died so early of HIV/AIDS because of the negligence of my father at the expense of the National duty.
Others have lost in the city until now and others turned thieves and it was the government he was serving that always imprisoned them. Others turned gamblers because of being idle.
Surely, was the president recognizing my father for the good service he did or for wasting our future?
Does the government know that our lives risked loss in the name of serving the Nation?
Or does the government know that we sons of our father because of the disadvantages we have seen from our father, cannot risk serve her?
As for me and my family, I will serve the Lord. But, in serving the Lord, I will not sacrifice my daughter at the alter of Morea.
I thank my friend Tiina Wilder always for helping my mind to always ensure that my daughter Sara Amooti Wembabazi is in good health and safety before I can venture into anything.
Otherwise, I have no reason to celebrate the medal

Webale Bagilya?
When I was in Fort Portal last year in December with my Kenyan preacher friend, Pastor Lazarus Baraka and my loving Pastor Moses Baguma along Kiboga road as we were drawing closer to the Tooros pride radio VOT FM, we met a banana seller carrying over six bunches of mutuli on his bicycle. Mutuli I'd say is the biggest banana species in Uganda. While we passed by, my Kenya friend was not only attracted by the banana breed but also the fact that in Uganda, people can hawk food.
We stood by his side as we were enjoying the view of the bicycle. We asked him to allow as get a photo of the bicycle with it banana. The seller was generous to us and he accepted to be photoed even with the bicycle.
After the photo, my friend graceful appreciated him, THANK YOU.
Looking at us starred, he replied, WEBALE BAGILYA? literally meaning THANK YOU is not food.
Remember, The old man had been pushing the bicycle for the whole day, he was hungry for food, he wanted a buyer so he can get what to eat. We were touched and asked him to accept the 1000 note that we could afford to give him. We were so excited about his action and left him.
Why the long story?
Yesterday, I shared about the Medal which my father received from the president of the Republic of Uganda, yes, it was a recognition of what my father had done to the nation even when it meant neglecting us.
But surely, how can it be possible that the government can afford to pay for the medals but cannot be able to offer a quid proquo to the olden men who risked their families and life at the interest of the nation? Is the medal food? What does the medal help my father to achieve at his old age?
However, I don't blame this government, the president was not ashamed when he said during the same function that, "Bakarwana, konka ekintu mwamikunda" literally underrating the role of the ex soldiers and servicemen that "They fought, but it was the people that loved the government". Moreover, when the president confessed that he was not our servant on the same function, I even recognize the reason he was not bother giving a hand of help to these old dependants

I don't always talk about politics, but the fact that my father is minimized to such an extent, I will not be silent.
Next time, Remember that a servant is worthy of a consideration.
