{UAH} PARLIAMENT REJECTS MUNTU’ WITHDRAW OF INGRID FROM THE EALA RACE
By Kabuye Ronald
In the twist of events clerk to parliament Jane Kibirige in the letter dated 23rd/ February/2017 addressed to Forum for Democratic Change FDC declined to okay a request by the same party to withdraw the candidature of its national mobilizer Kamatenenti Ingrid Turinawe from the East African Legislative Assembly EALA race.
In a letter dated 22nd this month authored by the FDC president General Maj. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu instructing the clerk to parliament to withdraw Ingrid from the race though it had no reasons and was neither signed by the nominee herself or the party secretary general as the law stipulates, this was intended to leave the former Kabairamaido women mp Ekwau Ibi Florence who also emerged as the best in the party primaries in race on the FDC ticket.
However the same letter was trashed by Ingrid herself and the party deputy secretary general Harold Kaija saying that they were unaware of developments but the party mouth piece Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda confirmed that indeed the party working committee resolved to withdraw Ingrid's name adding that her stay in the race leaves her as an independent cabinet
According to the clerk to parliament' letter, muntu's letter didn't meet rule 7 sub rule 1 and 2 of the rules of procedure for parliament that requires a signature of both the candidates and the party secretary general.
