SIR BRANSON TOTALLY HIT UP PREZ OBAMA FOR POT (NOT REALLY), "JOKES" MEDIA

That's a confusing headline. You know what's not confusing? This exchange between Virgin Group's Sir Richard Branson and The Atlantic's Steve Clemons during a panel discussion about the war on drugs.

Clemons: "You saw Obama last night. Did you happen to mention anything to him?"
[laughs from the audience]
Branson: "I asked for a spliff but they didn't have any."
[laughs from the audience]
Branson: "No, no, I didn't."

Funny. Jokey. A nice way to break up an hour of pretty rich policy talk. Watch the whole discussion here. Or, just "OMG BRANSON TOTALLY HIT UP OBAMA FOR POT" like certain media outlets.

From Patrick Gavin over at Politico:

Gavin continues on, though most of his audience probably abandoned ship after the first paragraph, feeling both sickened and emboldened by their now furiously wagging mind-finger. Gavin did eventually write his way to a deeply embedded punchline—Branson was kidding! LOL!—which arrived in his post at about the same point this sentence arrived here.

For more journalists who click-baited with delayed punchlines, have fun hereherehereherehere, and be sure not to miss Business Insider's Michael Brendan Dougherty, who skimmed the Politico piece and, at the time of this sentence's creation, failed to mention anywhere in his stale rehashing that Branson was joking.
