{UAH} Sugar Bill 2016

Provisions in the bill are;

1- Uganda Sugar Board/Uganda Sugar Advisory Council
2- Sugar cane pricing
3- Licensing of sugar mills
4- Sugar Mill zones
5- Expansion/Diversification

Interesting issues in (4) Zoning

Here the proposal is that licensing of sugar mills shall be authorized by the minister. The sugar cane zoning should also be entrenched into law.

"Cane Zone" means an area of twenty five kms(25kms) radius allocated to a sugar mill for growing sugar cane (22(3)) and the distance between any two mills shall be 50kms apart.
