{UAH} FORMALIZE ALLIANCE: ON BUKEDDE RADIO TONIGHT
DP AND UPC SHOULD FORMALISE THEIR ALLIANCE WITH NRM
There is no doubt that the independence parties; DP and UP[C are in an
alliance with the ruling NRM. What is only lacking is a signing
ceremony of a memorandum of understanding.
During elections UPC faction under Jimmy Akena made an informal
alliance with NRM in Lango sub region where Congress men and women
campaigned for President Yoweri Museveni and at the end of the road,
many ate big as cabinet ministers like Betty Amongi, Minister for
Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries. Chris Opoka is also
retained as EALA member.
As for DP, publicly its President General Norbert Mao announced an
alliance with Amama Mbabazi but many DP parliamentary and local
government candidates were divided between supporting President
Museveni and Dr. Kizza Besigye of FDC. They also ate big like Florence
Nakiwala Kiyingi State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, and
again Mukasa Mbidde as EALA member.
FDC which has been on a direct confrontation with NRM the latest form
being "defiance," has been left out both in government and EALA.
Informal talks are however going on according to press reports,
between President Museveni and his former allies; Kizza Besigye and
Amama Mbabazi.
Yet l see some DP leaders in Kampala and Bukomansimbi want Nakiwala
out of the oldest party in Uganda, saying that she betrayed them.
Olara Otunnu faction now under Bbosa, is also cursing Jimmy Akena faction.
Hadn't Uganda Federal Alliance been a one person's show, Minister for
Kampala, Beti Kamya would have found it rough.
The best should be for the two traditional parties, that didn't field
presidential candidates to go into a formal alliance with NRM UNTIL
2021 .
These and other views will be aired on Bukedde Radio's Mugobansonga
evening talk show, moderated by, a leading broadcaster, Teera Kaaya,
today Thursday March 2nd 2017 from 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm, God willing.
