{UAH} Former Entebbe Town Clerk, Ochieng Osaamai passes on

Folks;

With much sadness, I share the passing of my uncle and friend, Simon - Peter Ochieng Osaamai.

Mr, Osaamai was a long-serving Town Clerk, who started his civil service career in 1982, after graduating from Makerere. He serves in Busia, Bushenyi, Mbarara, Fort Portal, Masindi and Entebbe.

From Entebbe, was seconded to the Uganda Human Rights Commission, as Commission Secretary. After two years, Osaamai decided to take an early retirement due to health complications, arising from a motor accident that had claimed his first wife.

Mr. Osaamai was a soft-spoken intellectual who valued his advice, and therefore, gave little of of it. He never tolerated a dishonest person, even from his own blood, and would happily volunteer a relative to authorities if the kin had committed any crimes.

A bookworm from childhood, Osaamai excelled in exam tests throughout his education: he got all A's in his A'Level, and graduated from MUK with First Class, Honors.

In 1998, the government sent him to Israel for further studies, where he earned a Diploma in Urban Land Management. Upon returning from Israel, he was posted to Entebbe.

Mr. Osaamai leaves behind a widow, Ruth, with whom he had four children and four adult children from his first wife. Ruth was originally his sister-in-law, whom her family had offered to raise her sister's children.

He's also survived by his elder brother, Major John Omeja, the former Western Regional Director of NASA during Obote 11.

Burial is tomorrow at his ancestral in Okwira, West Budama.
