{UAH} Grassing Ex-IGG Joins Law Firm
Hard economic times have forced the former deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Raphael Baku to practice law.
Baku who for 3years worked as acting IGG retired from the Inspectorate in 2013 in accordance with the Constitution which stipulates that anti-graft officers can only serve for two terms.
Whereas Baku expected to possibly be deployed as High Court judge or any other position after his retirement, his hopes have been squashed as he remains grassing at home.
s a result, Baku has resorted to practicing law and now sits at Social Security House where he conducts his legal duties as a Partner at Rwaganika, Baku & Company Advocates.
Sources say that during Baku's tenure, he could have poked some influential peoples' eyes and even sent them to jail.
In revenge, these unnamed persons have vowed to frustrate any arising appointment job for Baku.
"That is why Baku can't get any appointment. Each time his name surfaces on any board list, a red pen crosses it," a source said
During his three year as acting IGG, Mr Baku was accused of being used to fight political wars, an allegation he denies.
Speaking about the closed corruption case against Foreign Affair Minister Sam Kutesa and two other Cabinet ministers, Mr Baku said the Inspectorate had good evidence against them but were only let down by the witnesses who happened to be civil servants working under them.
Mr Baku also boasted of having made a huge impact in the fight against corruption in local governments during his eight-year reign at the Inspectorate.
