{UAH} HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY 2017

International Womens Day 2017 is here. The theme this year is special: "Be Bold For Change".
A call to action that we should all utilize in our daily lives and in our plans for the future.
Women's Day is also the time to applaud women role models in all fields. So who are our role models this year?
UN Women, the organization focused specifically on addressing gender inequality around the world, is also urging all governments to remove any discriminatory labour legislation and empower women at work. Sexual harassment at the workplace is a silently persisting global problem that women live with. And society trends are increasingly looking at women as sexual objects, yet with love and care, they are the ones who nurture the future.
That is why this Women's day, I would like to celebrate all the single women who have had to become the father's to their children as well as the mother. Working hard single-handedly and in dignity to ensure that their children get a future better than the life their mother got. Struggling tirelessly to raise them, educate them, and have enough food on the table for them every single day. If it means selling charcoal or vegetables, African women are doing it. And with those meagre resources, some have even managed to get their children up to university. Others are rising to even greater challenges. Taking on roles that were once the sole domain of men. From fighter pilots to successful businesswomen, nothing should stop any woman going forward today.
Indeed be bold for change.
I therefore urge our women representatives in Parliament not to forget why they are there. Your role is simply to uplift women. I'm thinking especially about the women and girls in rural area's who need your encouragement, wisdom and sometimes even your protection.
But let us not assume that the rural women are weak.
If we all had these mothers' level of determination, the resolve that engulfs our hearts after the tears of helplessness have been wiped away, we would definitely be a better and more successful nation.
Thank you to all women for your unsang efforts.

Happy Women's Day!
