A Kampala Capital City Authority lawyer, who was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday, has been found, although with serious injuries.
Kira Road Police Division commander, Mr Filbert Waibi, confirmed that Mr Mubarak Kalenge is receiving treatment.
"He is still in hospital. I have been in the hospital and he is now with his family. We shall give you details later," Mr Waibi said.
Mr Kalenge was allegedly kidnapped by armed men at Afro American Restaurant in Bukoto suburb where he had gone for coffee.
Police detectives are yet to talk to Mr Kalenge to understand what the suspected kidnappers wanted from him.
Mr Kalenge's family has been in panic since his disappearance on Sunday and had circulated messages on different media platforms calling for anyone with information about his whereabouts to reach them.
"Dear friends, Our Brother Mubraka Kalenge was kidnapped from Bukoto Afro American Restaurant at gunpoint at 8pm on Sunday. If you have seen him, please call this number….. We need your support. Kindly circulate widely. Thank you very much," one of the messages read.
Before Kalenge was found, a relative had told Daily Monitor by telephone that they were making progress in the search for him, but said the family had been advised not to speak to journalists for fear of jeopardising the investigations.
"I am unable to discuss anything, however there is progress in the search of our brother," said the relative.
Cases of kidnap have been increasing in Uganda. Flying Squad Unit have pursued nine cases of kidnap since last year.
