Politico Poll: Trump’s Approval Rating Is Increasing

A new poll has found that 52 percent of U.S. voters approve of President Donald Trump’s job performance, while about 43 percent disapprove.

That approval rating wasn’t carried out through Rasmussen, but via Politico/Morning Consult. Rasmussen, which uses online and anonymous survey methods, has polls that are generally more favorable to Trump than most others.

The Politico poll, however, is curious. Trump’s approval rating is buried at the bottom of the page of an article, titled, “Poll: Voters wary of GOP health care bill.” Most of the article is dedicated to the public’s view on the new GOP health care bill aimed at replacing Obamacare.

The 52-percent approval rating represents an increase compared with other Morning Consult polls. For example, Trump’s rating after Inauguration Day was 49 percent.

Forty-six percent of Americans, when asked about the direction the country is heading, say they believe its on the right track, up four points since January, and 17 points since Election Day.

“Despite several public controversies, the two measurements have remained relatively steady, and almost all of the movement has been in Trump’s direction among all voters,” Morning Consult said, referring to the “right direction” poll and the poll on Trump’s approval rating.

The poll surveyed 1,983 registered voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
