Ugandans are a very forgiving society, their leniency is at display today with the death of police spokesman Andrew Felix Kaweesa

Many have put aside their work chores to mourn a Policeman they have been cursing. Kaweesi is remembered for inventing  something called "Preventive arrest" [read turning peoples homes into detention centres] and unleashing terror to opposition leaders and anyone opposed to Museveni].

Knowing that he had the full backing of all state machinery Kaweesi mustered one thing, 'contempt through calmness' he could never raise his voice to the powerless. He would calmly justify every action of police brutality citing the law or court order even where none existed.

The condolences started with the Col Dr Kiiza Besigye,  the man who has suffered most at his hands.

"I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family of Andrew Kaweesi family. "They are mafia within the regime. This is a mafia state and this should worry everyone." Kizza Besigye

Kaweesi's second most tormented person was the Lord Moyor Erias Lukwago, ironically he sent the second message on hearing his tormentors death.

"Bloodbath in my mother land!!! Oh No! Oh Lord !!! Kitalo nyo!! What a dark Friday?!"

Democratic Party president Norbert Mao sent the shortest but most loaded message to the dead and living:

"He has been among young and well educated Ugandans who had been turned into tools of coercion by the regime" Norbert Mao.

To government Kaweesi has been a loyal regime apologist who would stop at nothing when dealing with anyone opposed to the regime.

However to the opposition politicians he personally arrested, he hasn't been as bad as a number of other police officers.

"He would never bring out any element to show you that he had anything personal and would always silently whisper to the victim that "you are safe in my hands"testified one opposition politician.

Kaweesi's last statement

Of recent Kaweesi had disappeared from arrest action scenes and was even once  faulted for handling the opposition "respectfully" yet his bosses called for more humiliation and a firmer grip.

Information now reaching the SpearDesk show that Kaweesi hasn't been a happy man and had already notified his bosses about his intentions to retire and join politics.

Kaweesi's desire to leave police was in "steady progress" as he had even started going public about it and his intention to join politics.

One MP who has been Kaweesa's close friend confided into the Spear that "recently when he came to Parliament he took two of us aside and told us that he was retiring and joining us by 2021″

Who is Andrew Felix kaweesi?

Andrew Felix Kaweesi 43 hails from Lwengo in greater Masaka in southwestern Uganda. He left a widow and 3 children.

He joined the police force in 2002 when it was under the command of general Katumba Wamala.

Kaweesi came to the limelight when he was moved from Masindi Police Training school to head the Kampala Metropolitan Area. He was a populist and policed the city in such a way that made everyone forget about other top officers in the force. It was around this period that his bosses became uncomfortable with him and "promoted" him to head the human resource department to hide him from people.

His Last point of duty: On 21st August 2016, Police Chief Kale Kaihura appointed Kaweesi, police Spokesperson  with a duty "to reclaim the Force's lost public trust"

Ironically Kaweesi will not be able to help police redeem its image as his day cold blood murder has dumped it further.
