{UAH} Aisha's marriage was ordained by God!
The prophet (SAW) died when Aisha (RA) was 18. They only spent 9 years together. If they waited until she was 15-18, they would have from 0-3 years together.
Aisha (RA) is probably the single greatest Islamic scholar in history. She is the 2nd most numerous narrator of ahadith at over 2,000 narrations, second only to Abu Hurayra. Her narrations are unique since she lived with the prophet (SAW) for so many years, seeing parts of his sunnah that no other companion could have seen. WIthout her, the deen would literally not even be the same. Fiqh would be very different, since so many issues would be up in the air due to a lack of sources.
After the death of the prophet (SAW), she spent her whole life as a scholar of Islam. People would come to her with questions and she would travel around on a camel giving lectures. She never remarried anybody else and never narrated a single hadith showing contempt for marrying the prophet Muhammad (SAW).
On top of this, the concept that the prophet (SAW) was a "pedophile" is totally unfounded. He shows no pattern of behavior, this only happened once. Everybody else he married was anywhere from their 20s/30s all the way up to old age. Given the extraordinary and invaluable life of Aisha (RA), it is clear that this marriage was indeed ordained by God for a reason. Anybody who studied fiqh knows that without her, we would be in the dark on a multitude of issues. Wa Allahu alam.
It would also be important to note that Khawlah bint Hakim (RA) recommended that the Prophet (SAWS) marry Aisha (RA). This also shows how normal it is because a women recommend it as well. King Richard II of England had married to Isabella of Valois when she was 6 years-old. And this happened 600 years after the Prophet (s.a.w.) married Aisha (r.ah.).
Also, I think it's important to note how the enemies of the Prophet called him all sorts and accused Him of many things but no one from his era ever criticised or had an issue with his marriage to Aisha. This in my humble opinion, shows to me that marriage at that age was not a big deal in those days. I think this is a point that needs to be forcefully reinforced to anyone using this as a criticism of our Prophet.
